Here's the scoop...

News

Sep 8th, 2003

News just in that Captain Sensible will be singing a few Ramones tunes with his mate Marky Ramone and his band at the Bierkeller in Bristol this Sunday (Sept 14th).

Marky RamoneThey must've hatched this plot during the recent Fiend Fest where Marky was playing in the current Misfits lineup.

The Ramones are Caps favourite punk band and they were the means by which Brian James managed to get the Groundhogs and Egg off Mr Sensibles record player.... well, for a short while anyway!

Cap sang back up vocals on Joey Ramones excellent posthumous album, 'Dont Worry About Me' (we here think 'What a Wonderful World' should have been a monster hit) and is VERY much looking forward to this one... and hearing Markys pre music Ramones anecdotes... they was a wacky bunch, indeed!

Heres Markys September gig list and the tour blurb.............

  • Sun 7th Rescue Room, Nottingham
  • Tue 9th Carling Academy 2, Birmingham
  • Wed 10th The Underworld, London
  • Thu 11th Rose Theatre, Rugeley
  • Fri 12th Rock Cafe Stourbridge
  • Sat 13th Half Moon, Paignton
  • Sun 14th Bierkeller, Bristol - only show with Cap as guest singer

Marky Ramone - taking his 'Ramones Around The World' spoken-word/multimedia/video experience around the UK very soon. It's described as "the incredible story of the band that invented punk rock and changed the face of popular music forever, told by the man who brought the beat. Marky delivers the no-holds-barred tale of how 4 kids from Forrest Hills, Queens turned the rock world upside down - from 'Teenage Lobotomy' to 'I Wanna Be Sedated' to 'Rock'n'Roll High School' - complete with behind the scenes anecdotes, tales from around the globe and tons of incredible, high energy, rare and never before seen concert footage, questions and answer session, autographs and more!".

Gawd bless the French - they've invited the Captain over to perform his ground breaking single, the innovative rap ditty entitled 'Wot' on the 'Absolutely 80' TV programme. While this DOES sound like a dodgy 80s nostalgia show the good Captain seems quite keen to get over there and sample some of Paris's well known hospitality (belch!).

'Wot' (believe it or not) was No1 in France for 7 weeks and Mr Sensible STILL can't walk dans le rue out there without getting the old 'pop star' bit.... autographs, photos taken, people offering him drinks, sumptuous banquets, etc.... no wonder he's so keen on going.

Mr. Showbiz reports Robert is talking with Quentin about an appearance in Quentin's planned Ernest Hemingway biopic. Wonder what he'll look like with Papa's beard!

hmmm...
